Hop on in Carlsbad Village to head to a Padre game, or board at Union Station downtown and enjoy your trip north to Carlsbad! There was dust everywhere on the coffee maker, in the mini bar, on the lamps, and on the remote control. It appeared as if the room hadn't been used in a while. The deposit required on the room was about 80 dollars more than the actual room called cost me.
The staff seemed rude when I decided to pay this in cash rather than the normal credit card. The next day at checkout they took about 20 to 30 minutes to "check" my room and make sure I didn't take a ten dollar candy bar.
Then finally paid me my cash deposit back in small bills so I felt like I was going to a strip club. Not to mention this is next to a Navy Base with constant helicopter traffic. As a combat veteran on an anniversary date of a brother's death the helicopters reinforced some horrible memories.
The one pool we found was in good shape. Everything is super expensive there and they really like to charge you for any fee they can. I would not go back nor recommend it to anyone. I actually left a night early and forfeited my paid night because I didn't want to be there. Pros : I liked the cleanliness of the room and especially the view.
Pros : 3 times hotel staff entered my room with out knocking! Saying they did not know it was booked! All my kids got sick because there was no heat, very unpleasant atmosphere in the first floor. Pros : The tower I didn't stay in. Cons : The second tower is a five minute walk from the first and all the nicer facilities are in the first tower. Cons : Their were some perks my co-workers received without inquiring about and I was not even asked. My room was not ready until pm then I asked for a late check out they gave me a hard time.
Pros : Location for 4th of July could not have been better. The restaurant staff was amazing. Food wasn't amazing, but it was good. Little on the pricey side, at least the breakfast buffet was. Cleaning staff was also amazing. Cons : Desk staff was not amazing. Issues that I had, that they caused, they didn't know what to do to help or maybe just chose not to help. Totally frustrated with them. Pros : Good place for a major conference. Cons : Waited 20 minutes to check in. Entirely too long. Rated Remodeled in , the rooms and 8 meeting rooms were re-vamped with a modern-vintage style.

Pros : We liked the atmosphere. We also liked the functionality of the Suze Suite since we had a 5 year old and a 3 year old with us. We liked the onsite restaurant as well. All the staff was friendly. Cons : Keys to the room didn't work at first and we had to get the door replaced. No big deal at first but then when we added that up with a refrigerator that wasn't working, still not a biggie. On Monday I asked for someone to check out the fridge while we were at Seaworld all day.
They said they would replace it. When we got home late Monday night, the refrigerator still wasn't working. I started looking around and looked behind the cabinet it was in and guess what I pulled the entire wall unit out, plugged it in, and then it was working. The part that disappointed me was that someone said they would have it replaced and that obviously didn't happen. Pros : Loved the atmosphere, location, decorations, pool, style, amenities, bar, lobby.
There were a few annoyances, but the items mentioned above made up for them. Cons : The space under the bedroom door was large, so that a lot of light would shine through at night used a towel to block the light.
The shower would only get lukewarm at best. The stationary bike in the fitness room would not turn on so you could not set the resistance. There was no access to wall outlets near the bed to plug in phone chargers they were well behind the bed, with no power strip or extension cord to allow for easy access. Despite these, had a great stay and the benefits far outweighed these minor annoyances.
Pros : Most of the staff was very friendly, and the decor was nice. Cons : The walls were paper thin and you could hear absolutely everything. Our first room was over the parking garage entrance, and would shake like a small earthquake each time the garage door would open.
After requesting a change, we were put directly over the lounge, which pumped loud music into our 2nd story room all night. The rooms were filthy, with mold growing in the bathroom, and years of filth piled anywhere the vacuum did not immediately reach. To top in all off, on our way out, my wife decided to take a few pictures of the pool. There was one person sitting by the pool on the side opposite of us obviously vaporizing nicotine, so the hotel staff decided to come yell at my wife and I, threatening us with fines for smoking.
It was aggressive, rude, and forceful, when they had no idea as to the actual situation. Pros : Had the old Hollywood feel and look. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Pros : Friendly knowledgeable staff. Good location. Quiet and clean. Pros : close to our daughters home. Pros : Fairly nice place. Could use some updating as far as room and bathrooms in room.
Staff was very attentive and helpful. We did enjoy the pool but it was a bit crowded due to it having a private party of non hotel guests. Pros : I loved the huge bed and linens were nice.
Staff was very friendly and the bar was cayuuuute! Cons : My room had dusty lampshades, and picture frames. The corners of the bathroom floor were dirty with debris and some hair from the previous guest.
Pros : It has a great authentic retro look and the lobby and cafe good food were great places to hang out. Cons : The walls were thin and there was a noisy family in the room next door. However, the staff spoke to them and they quieted down so sleeping was not a problem.
Pros : Staff was great! Super friendly and helpful. I liked the old hollywood decor, the over sized chess and checkers were awesome. And as my daughter said the Gatsby pool was amazing. Clean place. Cons : We only stayed one night. And its kind of far away from things. There are not many things to do within walking distance. Pros : I loved everything about this hotel. I felt like I stepped back in time the minute I walked in. The staff was super friendly and very attentive! Cons : If you're looking for a quiet place to crash for a business trip, this probably isn't the place for you.
It's a pretty hip place so people in their 20's and 30's love it. And with that being said it's a party hotel. Which I thought was great but don't go in expecting to get any solid sleep. Cons : no microwave and refrigerator in the room.
It has such a cool vibe and the staff was so kind. We had our toddler with us and he had a great time in the pool and getting stickers from the front desk staff. We can't wait to go back! Cons : There are weddings and events on Saturday which was loud, but they stopped right at 10pm. It looked so fun! So we didn't mind. Pros : I loved the atmosphere and the antique look. The staff was amazing and very attentive. My husband and i celebrated our one year anniversary, i told the clerk that and she made sure we had the best room for our money.
Cons : They charged me a daily parking rate in addition to the other costs. This was an issue because I did not realize they were charging me. Pros : The hotel was 15 minutes from a bunch of places, so it wasn't too bad as far as convenience. Cons : The description said free wifi, but wifi was only available in the lobby. We'd called for desk service and they were so slow to respond and bring what we requested to our room.
The suite itself was mediocre at best, but at least it was clean. Really, really small bathrooms though and the windows were so awkwardly placed.
If you opened the bathroom window, people passing by got a direct view of you on the toilet, so thats uncomfortable.
Pros : Very unique and interesting hotel. The staff were friendly and our room was neat and clean. The hotel is located in a cool part of the city with plenty of nearby restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay here again! Cons : The attached restaurant near the lobby was over priced, in my opinion, and the service could have been a bit better.
For example, the server knocked over my wife's coffee and made a mess on the table, but they never cleaned it up. We had to use our napkins to do it ourselves. Not a huge deal, but could have been better. Pros : The rooms are gorgeous; smaller but well appointed with top notch linens and mattresses. Views were spectacular. Cons : No storage for clothes, ants in room, missed a day of cleaning after we were gone for 8 hours.
Nobody answered at room service for 5 minutes. Next time we tried room service food was brought; no cutlery. Cutlery came 25 minutes later and food was already cold.
Still no soup spoon. Restaurant was average at best but still very costly. Manager did his best to alleviate issues but could only do so much. Just not the level of service expected from a resort of this cost. Cons : There was some confusion as a result of a change of ownership and renovation. We needed a guest laundry facility and we were told by one employee there was a quarter operated laundry only to be told by another employee that it was closed.
No microwave was available for use on the entire property. Also, parking was pricey even though half the parking lot was closed to be used as a construction staging area forcing us to park a long distance from our room. For the money, stay next door at the Best Western Plus. Pros : Relaxing with great amenities and unbelievable views from the courtyard and restaurant.
Cons : Check-in is later than normal- our room wasn't ready until after 3. We were able to drop off our luggage and wander around the beautiful island in the meantime. Parts of the hotel have a musty smell. Pros : We liked the rooms and facilities pool, marina side beach.
Cons : They tried to put us in a room with one bed when we booked a room with two doubles, we are a family of three and I refuse to put my daughter on a roll away, when we booked for two beds. The other people checking in at the same time we were also had problems with their accommodations. Cons : Construction at the hotel was not expected, and the hotel did not even try to make up for this fact.
The hotel front desk was rather short with my friend who came to visit and asked if he needed to pay for parking. Even once the construction is complete, I would recommend against staying here.
The way that construction was handled and the staff's attitude and lack of experience plays to the ultimate character of the management and ownership. Pros : I liked the private beach area that faced the marina. There were comfy chairs around fire pits and cabanas to enjoy. The pool area was also nice. We loved the dive in movie and the complimentary popcorn and kids drinks. The restaurant, Vessel, offered us excellent food and customer service from server Matt H.
Cons : The parking. We had to walk from the lobby to our room in the 4th building with all of our luggage and our toddler, only to find that the car got parked right outside of our room. There was ample parking in the lot, so the valet stipulation made no sense. We'll definitely try the bloody mary bar next time. Bahia Resort Hotel. This resort has square feet square meters of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room.
Free self parking is available onsite. Pros : Our 1st rm was in back on top and view of bay was Beautiful. Rm was big n very clean. That was special surprise that hotel gave us not only was rm gorgeous but workers even put Happy Anniversary card n tray of choc strawberries platter. We are Definitely coming back for our Anniversary again here.. Again Thank You Bahia Hotel for unforgettable weekend!! Cons : I Dnt really have anything to say about the workers or Rooms!!!
Beautiful Spot. Only problem we had was we were there for Anniversary and we Dnt get out much bcuz of our big family. I believe the hotel just made over sight but they put us next to couple w kids.
We let the front desk know of situation and they were very polite and rush our 2nd rm. I believe everyone got a win win out of it!! Pros : The resort itself is very close to mission beach, just a short walk. The resort pool was awesome with lots of amenities including crafts and a free arcade! The bay is right at the resort which was awesome. Cons : Cost was outrageous for us to not be lakefront. Also the bed was single handily the dumpiest most uncomfortable bed of my life.
Our room was dark and dingy, not fresh. Housekeeping was ok, not pristine clean. Pros : Didn't make it to breakfast but I slept like a baby. Pros : Location for an active family is perfect. Running beach biking water sports all close. Cons : Rooms could use some updating sliding doors hard to use leaking faucets. Pros : Location, location, location. Excellent hotel with sandy beach fronts on Mission Bay and a few minutes walk from Pacific Beach on the ocean and Belmont Park.
Cons : Age of facility is showing and remodelling is planned but linen and bath towels are all new and fresh and beds are very comfy. Pros : Friendly staff, beautiful facilities and it is located next to everything.

Cons : Tried to do an early check in and it was a difficult process with absolutely no guarantee and very little information.
It would have been fine if they could have just looked to see what the chances were with a possible estimated time frame. Pros : The beach was great with lots of rentals for paddle boards etc The setting of the hotel on it, the pond with the ducks was a big hit with the kids as was movie night at the pool with a giant screen as they swam.
So close to Sea World you could almost walk there! Cons : The map to the hotel left off cross streets at the signal turn, so I passed it a couple of times, only difficulty was finding the hotel from the map printed with hotel info. Pros : The room had a beautiful view. Lots of things to do and eat within walking distance. Room was pretty spacious. Cons : Shower tub was not very clean. My 1 year old find an old tissue under the bed which was really gross. The staff left something to be desired.
Pros : the staff was friendly and room was nice upon arrival. The beach access very convenient with comfortable cabanas. Cons : The shower didn't drain well. Had to ask for coffee packet after the service staff didn't clean the coffee maker or leave coffee for the next day. The air conditioner kept turning off in the middle of the night and the room became stuffy.
The in room safe didn't work. Pros : Nice property and nice room but needs updating, property is a bit stale. Nice hotel for families. Cons : Room was too warm at night and cool air was too loud.
Bathroom sink very small, but water pressure was great. Television at a bad angle and couldn't see the full screen from bed. Only received bottled water first night, was not replenished. Pros : I love the seals and the food at the restaurant and bar were very good. Cons : I don't really have any negative things to say. Pros : Ammentities are amazing.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Great location near beach. Big tv in room. Room looked and felt very clean. Garden view room had little baby ducks go by with their mom duck. Cons : You're going to need pillows or ask for a bunch of pillows to make a normal pillow. The ones in the room are half empty and tiny. Ocean Beach Hotel. Featured amenities include a computer station, a hour front desk, and luggage storage. Pros : The proximity to the dog beach it's a plus.
The room was small by the courtyard for one person and two dogs. Comfortable bed, tasteful modern furnishings. Needs a microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Love the patio with the view of the Ocean, but not the homeless and hippies been loud and obnoxious but I guess this is been an on going issue in Ocean Beach. I stayed six nights and the last three nights was lots of partying at next room, and the person on the other side of my room was snoring very loud that kept me up.
The courtyard is nice, with tables and beautiful fountain in the center with nice views of the Ocean. The hotel only offers coffee in the morning, I think continental breakfast should be included for the price. The hotel attracts young crowds who like to party and be inconsiderate for the rest of the guests. It's a non smoking hotel but smoking is allowed in the courtyard and the room patios. I could smell the smoke from people upstairs smoking and throwing the cigarette butts a ashes over their balconies.
The location it's a plus for beach goers and surfers, dog lovers, young people but not so much for relaxation. Pros : Literally steps from the beach. Very friendly staff. Beautiful courtyard. Cons : Room smelled like a public restroom, room cleanliness was questionable at best. Dustbunnies hanging from the ceiling, splatters on the ceiling and walls in bathroom- definitely did not feel comfortable.
Especially considering the price. Location is great proximity to the beach but the area is packed with homeless people. Did not feel safe walking around even during the day time. Pros : Location was ideal for beach and eating and shopping. Cons : A little too pricey for what you got but location made it bearable. Pros : It is a perfect spot near the beach, plenty of shops, dining within walking distance.
People are laid back, friendly, welcoming. Beds are comfortable. Staff is amazing!!! Courtyard is beautiful! Cons : The improvements are a work in process. Pros : Good location. Relatively quiet except for being in the flight path. Room is basic but comfortable and clean.
Pros : I loved that we were so close to the beach. You could hear the waves crashing in the morning. Staff very friendly. Free parking was always available even during the busy Memorial Day weekend. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely go back. The group upstairs were loud and partied late on Friday and Saturday. We didn't inform the front desk so maybe no one else heard.
Bathroom was small. I think if there were shelves or hooks even, that would help instead of laying things down on the toilet seat or sink. Pros : The location was great. The view is awesome. Very quiet and friendly. If you wanted to bring your pet they are great with that.
Second time staying there and will be staying there again in the future. Pros : Great location. Next to a fabulous brunch place and less than a 5 minute walk from beach and restaurants.
Super comfy bed. Pros : The atmosphere! It was quaint, clean and right across the street from the beach! Cons : Amenities. Very poor standard. I felt like I was in a 2 star hotel in some third world country. That place could have done better. The bathroom felt filthy. And what's with that air conditioner beside the bed? Pros : Small, clean rooms.
Not much in the way of in-room comfortable seating space. Nice area in the courtyard with seating around tables. Bathrooms are small - be careful you don't hit your head on the sink when you're on the toilet. Still, I'd stay there again. Location, location, location. Pros : Location location location nice bed and washroom. Right next to a 2 block strip with everything from souvenir shopping to burgers or sushi. Cons : The room was a bit small but everything was great besides that fabulous even.
I will return for another stay. Pros : I love the view! The beach became too crowded around 12 so we retreated to the hotel.
It was so wonderful being so close to the beach but still being able to social distance. The front desk handed out masks and hand sanitizer which was a really nice touch. I'm a nurse and my partner is a doctor and we really respected the way this hotel was handling things. Pros : You can't beat the location Not the greatest hotel in the world but we didn't care because we were at the beach the whole time- easy walking to all shops I would stay here again.
